Charity concert with the Inconspicuous 8
Inconspicuous 8 Concert
10/11/10
I’m pleased to announce that I will be performing as a member of the Inconspicuous 8 for the first time on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7:00 pm at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of New Orleans, 5112 S. Claiborne Ave.
The Inconspicuous 8 is a professional women’s choral group that performs to raise money for local and national charities. The Nov. 2 concert is entitled Of Kith and Kin, and features music about women as daughters, sisters, lovers, and mothers. Freewill donations will go to the church to complete the commercial kitchen that is being built in conjunction with the NO/AIDS Task Force to provide meals for AIDS patients in the New Orleans community.
Veteran members of the Inconspicuous 8 include Dr. Meg Hulley Frazier, Associate Professor of Music and Director of Choral Activities at Loyola University New Orleans and Artistic Director and Conductor of the New Orleans Vocal Arts Chorale; Dr. Louise LaBruyere, Director of the JPAS Symphony Chorus; and Dr. Caroline Carson, Director of Choral Activities at the University of New Orleans and Louisiana State Chair for Ethnic & Multicultural Choirs.
Repertoire for the concert includes covers a wide spectrum of genres, from Zion’s Walls by Aaron Copland to No Mirrors in My Nana’s House by Sweet Honey and the Rock.
